A junior technician position is available in Napoli at the Center of Advanced Biomaterial for Health Care (IIT@CRIB), part of the IIT-Network of centers in Italy.

IIT@CRIB is an interdisciplinary R&D center dedicated to develop cutting edge technologies to engineer bio-logically inspired material platforms for applications in the biomedical sector as so as to the investigation and exploitation of phenomena at the nanoscale. IIT@CRIB activities also include drug delivery, molecular medicine and advanced diagnostics .

The successful candidate should have a solid experience in transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy combined with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) with a deep knowledge in Electron Diffraction Tomography and CRYO- Electron Tomography operated both on biological samples and polymeric materials. Furthermore, consolidated experiences in sample preparation by cryo-ultramicrotome techniques on biological sample and vitrification of tissue samples by high pressure freezing techniques are required. Candidates with PhD in Biology, Physics or Material Science will receive preferential consideration. Due to the interdisciplinary character of the scientific program of the IIT Center, the ideal candidate must be proficient in the application of TEM techniques to different contexts, including inorganic chemistry, nanotechnology, and cell biology. Doctoral training and research experience in consolidated scientific groups is regarded as preferential titles.

Job description

  • Responsibility of the technical issues associated to the transmission electron microscopy (TEM&SEM) facility and instrument related to sample preparation for electron microscopy
  • Microscope laboratory management, instruments maintenance and scheduling, training of new TEM and SEM users and coordination of commercial activities related to the TEM lab.
  • Development of new TEM and SEM protocols for the observations of new unknown nanomaterials.

    L’Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia sta ricercando un sistemista in Information e Communication Technology da integrare nel proprio staff per rafforzare il supporto all’utenza nella fase di go-live dei nuovi sistemi e per le attività di set-up e di ampliamento delle nuove infrastrutture di rete.

    Si richiede:

  • Laurea in discipline informatiche, diploma di perito informatico o equipollente con maturata esperienza nel settore ICT
  • Conoscenza approfondita dei sistemi operativi Microsoft Windows, Linux, dei pacchetti applicativi di Office Automation e dei sistemi gestionali ERP piu’ diffusi
  • Esperienza pluriennale nell’attività di assistenza agli utenti in ambiente Windows e Linux
  • Conoscenza approfondita dei protocolli di rete TCP/IP, configurazione e gestione di apparati di tipo L2, L3 e firewall, monitoraggio e troubleshooting
  • Conoscenza dei principali applicativi utilizzati in ambito di ricerca e dei sistemi di licensing in ambienti di rete distribuiti;
  • Conoscenza approfondita di protocolli, apparati e sistemi di autenticazione per reti wireless;
  • Conoscenza dei linguaggi di programmazione Fortran, C, C++, PHP, Perl
  • Conoscenza di programmazione sotto shell Linux
  • Esperienza pluriennale nella progettazione, realizzazione e sviluppo di sistemi di calcolo HPC, e nell’attività di system manager
  • Buona conoscenza dei principali sistemi di scheduling

    Post doctoral position in pathogens investigations by lab-on-chip tools for diagnostic applications

    The Center for Advanced Biomaterials for Healthcare at CRIB (CABHC@CRIB), Naples, uses cutting-edge technologies to engineer biologically inspired material platforms for applications in the biomedical sector.

    1 post-doctoral position is available for a highly motivated candidate with max 5-year experience in biotechnology for the development of diagnostic tools by means of microfabrication and microfluidics.

    The research activity is part of the MICROMAP PON project granted by MIUR, included in the D4 platform at CABHC@CRIB and focuses on the exploitation of a proprietary technology for genomic analysis in infectivologic applications.

    In detail, the candidate will be involved in genetic and molecular characterization of viruses and bacteria in microfluidic devices for diagnostic applications.
    The activity will be supported by a whole tool of state-of-the-art techniques and equipment including real-time PCR, nano-drop, spectrofluorimeters and confocal microscopies.

    The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in biotechnology, biochemistry or a discipline related to genomic characterization of pathogens; a past experience in materials and biomaterials is preferred.
