Fellow position on "Preparation and characterization of microneedles by electro-drawing"

The Center for Advanced Biomaterials for Healthcare at CRIB (CABHC@CRIB; Naples, Italy) uses cutting edge technologies to engineer biologically inspired material platforms for applications in the biomedical sector.
We invite applications for one Fellow position on "Preparation and characterization of microneedles by electro-drawing".

The candidate will be responsible for producing polymer microneedles by means of an electro-drawing method. Different formulations will be tried in order to tune porosity, degradation and release kinetics. Moreover, one main objective will be the proof of direct production in parallel of an array of at least 100 microneedles by optimizing uniformity of polymer droplets reservoirs and by dealing with the proper set up of production including stages and optical equipments. From the characterization point of view, indentation tests in skin substrates and release tests both in gelatine and in skin will be performed.

1 Post doctoral position is available at CABHC@CRIB for highly motivated candidates in the area of nanoengineered platforms for cell and tissue control. The project aims at designing and fabricating synthetic material surfaces able to promote and guide the generation of tissues in vitro through the control of the cell-material interactions occurring at the nanoscale. Particular importance will be given to the understanding of the interplay between adhesion-cytoskeleton with cell fate and tissue features.

The ideal candidate should have a consolidated experience in materials nano- and micropatterning, cell cultures, cell analysis and a good expertise in microscopic techniques (fluorescence, confocal, SEM).

Candidates who hold a PhD in Material Science and Technology, Chemical Engineering or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will undertake research activities in laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technologies including, among others, Multiphoton and STED microscopes, SEM, TEM, AFM and microCT.

Position and salary will be commensurate to CV and experience of the candidate.

1 Post doctoral position is available at CABHC@CRIB for highly motivated candidates in the area of in vitro engineered biological tissues. The project aims at producing in vitro replica of biological tissues as 3D testing platforms in vitro for high throughput screening and tissue on a chip (TOC) systems. Particular emphasis will be given to the integration of 3D tissue culture technology with conventional diagnostic and therapeutic approach towards the development of reliable and robust in vitro assays for scoring and validating efficacy of treatments.

The ideal candidate should have a consolidated experience in 3D tissue culturing technologies, organotypic cultures, cell and tissue functional and structural characterization, a good expertise in mechanical and structural characterization of biological tissues, biochemical and histological techniques.

Candidates who hold a PhD in Biomaterials or Bioengineering or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. The candidate will undertake research activities in laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technologies including, among others, Cell culture, Mechanical spectroscopy, Cryo-microtome, Multiphoton microscopes, SEM, TEM, AFM and microCT.
