The Center for Advanced Biomaterials for Healthcare at CRIB (CABHC@CRIB; Naples, Italy) uses cutting-edge technologies to engineer biologically inspired materials for applications in the diagnostic and biomedical fields.
A post-doctoral research position is available to support the research activities carried out on the synthesis of building blocks for new diagnostic macromolecular tools.
The successful candidate will work at IIT@CRIB’s laboratory on the synthesis of synthons as base molecules for the realization of modular supramolecular assemblies for new diagnostic devices capable of capturing and revealing analytes with relevance for the clinical as well as the agroindustrial sectors.. The successful candidate will be involved in a challenging project and will be asked to realize multimeric molecules through the combination of small organic molecules, peptides, single strand DNA/RNA and aptamers. The successful candidate has high-quality expertise in solid-phase synthesis approaches (organic and/or peptide, manual and automated), bioconjugation, purification (LC/MS Spectrometry), receptor-ligand kinetics and affinity characterization by SPR and ITC. He/she is also familiar with other spectroscopy methods such as NMR, FTIR, Fluorescence, UV/Vis and XPS as well as Confocal Microscopy, XPS, SEM and TEM.
We seek a highly motivated and creative scientist, who enjoys an interdisciplinary, open and collaborative environment. Candidates have a strong background in any of the following areas: chemical synthesis, bioconjugation chemistry, receptor-ligand interaction characterization (SPR, ITC) and can performsample preparation, experimental design and data analysis autonomously.
He/she will present and discuss scientific findings in scientific meetings. He/she will have the opportunity to collaborate within our research program and laboratory, which is interdisciplinary as it bridges materials science with biomedical research.
The ideal candidate has a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Science, Materials or Biomedical Engineering or a related field. Candidates with different scientific backgrounds are encouraged to apply anyway.
