Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT- www.iit.it) with its headquarters in Genova (Italy) is a non-profit institution with the primary goal of creating and disseminating scientific knowledge and strengthening Italy's technological competitiveness. Currently, IIT’s scientific program has a strong multidisciplinary character, merging expertise from different platforms from neuroscience to drug discovery, from nanotechnologies to computation.
IIT has recently created a network of centers within Italian research institutions based in Lecce, Milan, Naples, Pisa, Turin, Parma, Rome and Trento.
The IIT Center for Advanced Biomaterials for Healthcare at CRIB (CABHC@CRIB- http://abcnapoli.iit.it/), Naples, uses cutting-edge and proprietary technologies to engineer biologically inspired materials for applications in the biomedical sector.
A 1-year fellow position is available at CABHC@CRIB for highly motivated candidates. The successful candidate will be involved in a project focussed on the fabrication and characterization of microfluidic devices for high throughput screening of biological matter such as cells of pathological interest and genetic materials.
The ideal candidate has previous experience in microfabrication technologies such as templates production and soft lithography techniques, in morphological characterization especially by SEM and design of 2D layouts. Previous experience in surface treatment of polymer materials will be considered an important plus.
The research activity is part of “eHealthNet – Ecosistema software per la sanità elettronica PON03_PE_00128_1CUP B64C12000580005-” project granted by Miur and included in 4D platform at CABHC@CRIB in Naples.
Candidates with a PhD in Materials, Chemical, Biomedical Engineering or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will carry out research activities in laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technologies for fabrication by micromilling, 2D and 2PP laser lithography, ICP-RIE, metal evaporator, TEM, SEM, AFM, confocal microscopy, etc.
In order to comply with Italian law (art. 23 of Privacy Law of the Italian Legislative Decree n. 196/03), the candidate is kindly asked to give his/her consent to allow IIT to process his/her personal data.
