Post doctoral position in the area of biochemistry for diagnostic applications

The Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia with headquarters in Genova (Italy), is a non-profit institution with the primary goal of creating and disseminating scientific knowledge and strengthening Italy's technological competitiveness. Current IIT scientific program has a strong multidisciplinary character, merging expertise from different platforms from neuroscience to drug discovery, from nanotechnologies to computation.

IIT has recently created an IIT-Network of centers at Italian research institutions in Lecce, Milan, Naples, Pisa, Turin, Parma and Trento. The Center for Advanced Biomaterials for Healthcare at CRIB uses cutting edge technologies to engineer bio-logically inspired material platforms for applications in the biomedical sector.

Applications are invited for the following position:

1 post doc (max 2 year experience)

Post doctoral position in the area of biochemistry for diagnostic applications

A post-doctoral position is available for a highly motivated candidate in the field of biochemistry devoted to the development of diagnostic tools.

The research activity is part of MICROMAP PON project granted by MIUR, included in D4 platform at the Center for Advanced Biomaterials for Health Care of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT@CRIB) in Naples ( and focuses on the exploitation of a proprietary technology to target/detect prognostic/diagnostic biomolecules.

In detail, the candidate will be involved in peptide synthesis as well as the investigation of macromolecules conformations and protein-protein or peptide-protein interactions. The activity will be supported by a whole tool of state-of-the-art techniques including NMR, CD, SPR, mass spectrometry, dynamic light scattering, scanning probe microscopy.

Ideal candidate should hold a PhD in biochemistry or related discipline and a past experience in biomolecules synthesis and investigation for immunology, diagnosis or drug delivery applications is requested. Familiarity with bioconjugation techniques and modeling of biomolecules interactions will be considered preferential. A strong academic record and high motivation for creative research is required.

Position and salary will be commensurate to the CV of the candidate.
