Research Technologist

The Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia with headquarters in Genova (Italy) is a non-profit institution with the primary goal of creating and disseminating scientific knowledge and strengthening Italy's technological competitiveness. Current IIT scientific program has a strong multidisciplinary character, merging expertise from different platforms from neuroscience to drug discovery, from nanotechnologies to computation.

IIT has recently created an IIT-Network of centers at Italian research institutions in Lecce, Milan, Naples, Pisa, Turin, Parma and Trento. The Center for Advanced Biomaterials for Healthcare at CRIB, that uses cutting edge technologies to engineer bio-logically inspired materials, is activating a procedure for the selection of candidates for n. 1 IIT RESEARCHER position for the following research profile:

Experience in engineering vital biological tissues in vitro through the most advanced procedures and protocols of modular tissue engineering. In particular, experience in homotypic and eterotypic thick 3D vital biological tissue productions (dermis-epidermis, cardiac, bone and epithelial tissues) in controlled fluid-dynamic, molecular and biophysical environment. Production and characterization of 3D biodegradable micro-scaffolds for cell seeding, management and control of biohybrid micro-tissue. Optimization of culturing conditions for assembling, maturation and growth of preformed tissues in 3D thick viable complex biological tissues. Monitoring of mechanical and morphological properties evolution of 3D biological tissue equivalent. Expertise in computational fluid dynamics for improved bioreactor design, 3D cell-culture and biological fluids transport studies as well as in process monitoring, control and scale-up.

Eligible candidates are senior postdocs with specific expertise in the above-mentioned research lines. Preferential requirements are first author ISI publications, previous experience in foreign laboratories, coordination of undergraduate and PhD students, research grants obtained as PI or participants.

Applications containing a motivation letter, the main achievements during the postdoc period, a short CV and 1-2 reference letters should be sent to the IIT@CRIB Secretariat by June 22 e-mail

The selection procedure will be performed by a panel of three distinguished scientists expert in the specific fields and will be based on the CV evaluation and interview.

In order to comply with the Italian law (art. 23 of Privacy Law of the Italian Legislative Decree n. 196/03), we have to kindly ask the candidate to give his/her consent to allow IIT to process his/her personal data.
