The Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia with headquarters in Genova (Italy) is a non-profit institution with the primary goal of creating and disseminating scientific knowledge and strengthening Italy's technological competitiveness. Current IIT scientific program has a strong multidisciplinary character, merging expertise from different platforms from neuroscience to drug discovery, from nanotechnologies to computation.

IIT has recently created an IIT-Network of centers at Italian research institutions in Lecce, Milan, Naples, Pisa, Turin, Parma, Rome and Trento. The Center for Advanced Biomaterials for Healthcare at CRIB, Naples, uses cutting edge technologies to engineer biologically inspired material platforms for applications in the biomedical sector.

Applications are invited for the following post doctoral position:

Research in the area of smart materials – Vascularization of 3D bioactive scaffolds

Post doctoral position available for highly motivated candidates in a project concerning the vascularazation of 3D bioactive scaffolds for Tissue Engineering applications. The project aims at defining the optimal biochemical and biophysical signals to promote and sustain angiogenesis within engineered materials. In particular, the research activities are focused on the bioactive scaffold design and fabrication with proprietary technologies, along with thorough in vitro and in vivo characterization. The activities are part of the Cell Instructive Materials research, within the Smart Materials platform at the Center for Advanced Biomaterials for Health Care of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT@CRIB) in Naples.

The ideal candidate should have a consolidated experience in the in vitro/in vivo characterization of synthetic matrices, i.e. cell cultures, immunofluorescence, histology, in vivo scaffold implantation / retrieval. Candidates who hold a PhD in Biology, Biotechnology or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. The candidate will undertake research activities in laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technologies including, multiphoton and STED microscopy, SEM, TEM and scanning force microscopy.

Position and salary will be commensurate to the CV and the experience of the candidate.
