Fellow position for "In silico approaches for hybrid materials development"

Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT – with its headquarters in Genoa (Italy) is a non-profit institution with the primary goal of creating and disseminating scientific knowledge and strengthening Italy's technological competitiveness. Our research areas cover scientific topics of high innovative content representing the most advanced frontiers of modern technology,with wide application opportunities in various fields ranging from medicine to industry, from computer science to robotics, life sciences and nanobiotechnology.

IIT has created an IIT-Network of centers within Italian research institutions based in Lecce, Milan, Naples, Pisa, Turin, Parma, Trento and Rome.

The Center for Advanced Biomaterials for Healthcare at CRIB (CABHC@CRIB; Naples, Italy) uses cutting edge technologies to engineer biologically inspired material platforms for applications in the biomedical sector.

The research activity is part of MICROMAP PON project granted by MIUR and included in D4 platform at CABHC@CRIB in Naples. This activity focuses on design of hydrid materials though computational approaches for biomaterials and biosensing.

Applications are openfor one Fellow position: the ideal candidate will carry out theoretical investigations of biotic-abiotic interfaces for biomaterials and biosensing.

Applicants shall posses deep knowledge of force-field parameters and softwares for biomolecules and materials characterization for a rational design of hybrids materials.

The activity will deal with the investigation of non-covalent interactions between biomolecules and inorganic surfaces, combining advanced analytical and statistical methods as well as different molecular simulations approaches. Particular attention will be paid to the thermodynamic aspects related to the specific interactions.

Experience in computer scripting with different languages is preferred. Fluency in written scientific English is necessary.

The ideal candidate is a fellow with a background in:
  • materials science
  • biomaterials 
  • polymers
